Music on the Porch

A Celebration of Samantha Bumgarner

Join us at the Appalachian Women’s Museum, 100 W. Hometown Place, Dillsboro, North Carolina

Saturday, September 14th
Noon – 5pm

The event will feature four regional bands performing live on the beautiful wrap-around porch of the 1908 Monteith Farmhouse .  We’ll be honoring the memory and mountain music of Jackson County resident  ‘Aunt’ Samantha Bumgarner.  In 1924 she became the first woman to record country music for a wide audience and continued a long career until her death in 1960.

This is also a fundraising event to help replace the 111 year old original metal roof on the museum.  As a volunteer organization, we appreciate your support!

Listen to live mountain music while enjoying food from Chili Chompers 2 and local craft beer tent from Balsam Falls Brewery on the grounds.

Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and enjoy the Appalachian Women’s Museum’s first annual Music on the Porch!
